Jonah and Randolph Ross claim State titles

Trojan track sophomore Jonah Ross claims 100m & junior Randolph Ross claims the 400m title at the 2018 NCHSAA 4A State Championship Track MeetMiss Ross posts 24.25 for 2nd in her 200m. Mr. Ross adds 2nd place finish in the high jump with 6-8 & 3rd in the 200m to earn MVP honors. His 4x100 relay team (Alexander Nunley, Ross, Prestige Bellamy and RJ Terryearns runner-up with 41.85 & freshman Nunley claims 4th in the 110m hurdles with personal best 14.59 for the freshman.  Indoor State Champion & Charlotte track commit Terry posts 10.90 in the fastest NCHSAA finals ever with six runners less than 11 seconds. Nunley records 42.17 in the 300m hurdles & the Lady Trojans 4x400 relay team posts 4:10.93 at the elite meet.

The siblings earn Garner 19th individual state championship. (Randolph won high Jump & 500m titles at the 2018 State Indoor championship to claim MVP honors). His three individual track championships trails only Trojan Hall of Fame inductee and current CFL All-Star Brandon Banks who claimed four titles in 2006

Trojans playoff run ends in NCHSAA East semifinals

After two upsets over high seeds, 14-seed Garner falls 4-2 in the NCHSAA 4A fourth round to SWAC foe Apex. Dylan Wheeler pitches 5.33 innings of relief with 2Ks and future South Carolina Gamecock Xavier Bussey 3 hits for the Trojans who season ends 19-8. Garrett Capaforte & Jackson Mitchell two hits each & Graham Wilkins single, RBI.

Trojans advance to NCHSAA East semifinals with win at New Bern

Catawba Valley commit Malik Stephens triple, 2RBI & Campbell signee Tyler Gillespy RBI double in 14-seed Garner 8-6 win at New Bern in the NCHSAA 4A 3rd Round. Noah Kieft adds 3 hits, RBI & South Carolina signee Xavier Bussey 3 hits with double & triple with a steal & two hits including double & stolen base from Jackson Mitchell. Dylan Wheeler gets the win in relief of starter Garrett Capaforte with 2.2 innings of relief by Nolan McLean for the victorious Trojans who host SWAC foe #15 Apex (8-1 upset winners at #7 Pine Forest) in the East semifinals Friday, 4PM

Fuquay win over M.Creek (also SWAC) has three of final 8 teams left in 4A Championship from SWAC.

Class of 2018 earns $9 million in scholarships

Trojan track at NCHSAA East Regional

State Champion Randolph Ross earns high jump, 200m & 400m titles at the 2018 NCHSAA 4A East Regional. RJ Terry claims the 100m and Jonah Ross takes the girl's 200m title. The 4X100 relay team of Alexander Nunley, Ross, Prestige Bellamy and Terry win with 41.53. Nunley qualifies for the State Championship with 2nd in 110m hurdles as does Jonah Ross with runner-up 100m finish. Nunley also qualifies for the State meet in the 300m hurdles as well as the girls 4x400 relay team with their 4th place finish.

Randolph Ross lowers his own 400m school record with 47.58 (4th time this season he has set new mark); 4x100 Relay team posts 41.53, 2nd best in school history (41.30 by 2000 State Champions Ken Altman, Sean Jackson, Ron Jackson, & Detric Branch); Jonah Ross 11.79 in 100m just misses her own 11.70 school record

Garner upsets Cardinal Gibbons to advance in NCHSAA Playoffs

Noah Kieft & Malik Stephens two hits, 2RBI each in Garner 10-3 upset of #3 Cardinal Gibbons to advance to the NCHSAA 4A Baseball 3rd round. South Carolina commit Xavier Bussey two hits, RBI, Graham Wilkins two hits and scored twice for the 14-seed Trojans (18-7) who avenge an earlier loss this season to the Crusaders. Brett Banks who also had RBI, Dylan Wheeler & Garrett Capaforte allowed just 5 hits to shut down the top seed in the bracket. Capaforte pitched 1.2IP of hitless relief and also had RBI, closed out the win. Garner will travel to #6 New Bern for Round 3 Tuesday, May 15th 6PM

2018 NCHSAA 4A Baseball Playoffs

Lady Trojans fall to #3-seed Heritage 9-0. Virginia Wesleyan commit senior Krissy D'Arco two hits for Garner (17-4) in her final Trojan appearance. Louisburg commit Haleigh Joyner, Hannah Kennovin and Kaitlyn Robeson record hits for Coach Moe Barbour's squad in their season finale. The Class of 2018 posted 58 wins in their 3-years: Ashton Thomas, Ashton Harris, Krissy D'Arco, Haleigh Joyner, Hannah Kennovin, Kari Sutton, Sam Weidner & Sam Armstong

2018 Physical Night for GMHS athletes; Summer workout schedules

Sports physicals for Garner Magnet High School student athletes will be offered on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. The cost of the physical will be $20 per student due the evening of the physical, with all proceeds returned to the athletic program at Garner Magnet High School. (Checks should be payable to Garner Trojan Club.) This event is sponsored by Raleigh Orthopaedic Group, Garner Family Practice, and MyEyeDr. It will be held at Raleigh Orthopaedic (Garner Office 1325 Timber Dr. East Garner, NC 27529). To receive a physical the student athlete must arrive with a completed and signed Garner High School Athletic Participation Form and GF Concussion Form. No exceptions will be made. Submit Form to  Mr. Guerrero’s office Room 1108 South Campus, or in the front office at Garner Magnet High School South Campus and Ninth Grade Center. Please note if you have other forms that need to be filled out, ie for Middle School, Pop Warner, Boy Scouts, Camps, etc, you must bring that form with you. We are not capable of completing these following your physical. In order to provide the physicians with an accurate attendance count you will need to make reservations with Mr. Guerrero, Athletic Trainer by Friday, May 18, 2018. Summer football workout information
Please also note that all paperwork must be turned in before players will be able to workout.  There is a 24 hr turnaround for paperwork to be cleared.  We will also have a parent meeting on May 24 at South Garner at 5:00 PM.  This will be before the physical night above.  Please email for more information and to be placed on the email list for 2018 correspondence (schedule changes, information needed, etc)

Softball, baseball advance in NCHSAA

 #6-ranked Lady Trojans blast Corinth Holders 8-3 in their NCHSAA 4A opener. Haleigh Joyner and Mikayla Brumbles back to back triples in Garner (17-3) fifth inning puts Coach Barbour's squad up for good and setup second round matchup at 3-seed Heritage Friday night 7PM. Brumbles pitches 5-hitter, with two hits and her RBI triple. Joyner 3-3 and scores three runs. Ashton Thomas RBI for 17-3 Trojans.

Senior Daniel Barbare closes with 79 at 2018 NCHSAA State 4A Golf Championship at Pinehurst. Outstanding performance for our Trojan to conclude his Garner career. We look forward to following his college career at NC Central next year!

Baseball opens with NCHSAA win Malik Stephens has two hits, 2RBI for #14-ranked Trojan baseball in 7-5 NCHSAA 4A Playoff win over Leesville to open their state playoff run. Graham Wilkins adds two hits, double and RBIs from Brett Banks and Nolan McLean, who gets the win with 2.2 shutout innings in relief of starter Dylan Wheeler with 3Ks. Wheeler logs 2.2 innings, allowing just 3 hits and Garrett Capaforte finishes off the playoff win with 1.2 innings. Garner (17-7) travels to #3-seed Cardinal Gibbons Friday night 7PM
