Trojan blast Clayton for 9th straight win over the Comets

Garner rolls to 84-60 win at former conference foe Clayton. Demetric Horton scores 23 with Trayvon Ferrell 15 & KD Burt 13 for the 6-1 Trojans. The good guys shake off a subpar first half shooting to post 33-17 final quarter to pull away from the Comets. Garner finishes the game shooting 55% aided greatly by final three minutes of the 3rd and first minute of the final quarter, going on 16-2 run to break the game open and cruise to their 9th straight win over Clayton. Marque Maultsby scores 8 with 9 assists to stir the drink and 14 of 15 Trojans record a point, rebound or assist. Burt and Ferrell lead a huge 28-17 rebound margin for Coach Eddie Gray's squad with six each. Garner commits just 3 turnover after the break after 8 in the first half and force 15 from Clayton for the game. Our legendary Coach claims career win #514, opening 6-1 or better in each of the last 4 seasons. Garner has scored 83 or more in each win this season. They head to Heritage next Tuesday for heavyweight rematch vs the #3 Huskies.

JV Trojans win 5th straight
Garner JV down the Comets 57-44 behind Griffin Hines five three-pointers and Daveon Dunn 14 points. Coach Bloms' Trojans (6-1) race to 27-12 halftime lead and hold on after shooting just 40% after the half, forcing 14 turnovers and major 32-19 rebound margin. Dunn hauls in 9 rebounds and records 7 assists, his 5th game with +5 this year. Tom Horton records 7 rebounds & Christian Little contributes 9 points and 5 boards. 

JV Girls roll to 8th win
Garner JV girls down Clayton 52-16 non-conference win at Clayton. The varsity Lady Trojans drop their matchup 68-39.

Trojans topple #3 Heritage

#5-ranked Garner upsets #3 Heritage 84-79 in battle of local heavyweights in a packed S.Garner Gym. Demetric Horton is blistering from the arc with 21 points on five threes and Marque Maultsby & KD Burt 17 each. Trayvon Ferrell chips in 11 as the Trojans improve to 5-1. Coach Gray's varsity squad races to early 9-0 lead as Horton nails two big treys and Burt owns the boards. But the highly ranked Huskies rally back to narrow Garner lead to 42-40 at the half. Burt leads 15-12 rebounding margin despite a massive 14 to 1 free throw margin for the visitors. Garner stretched their lead to 12 on Jaren Ellerbee slam with three minutes to go but again, Heritage rallies to narrow the gap to 76-72 with just 1:27 left. Burt finds Ferrell for tomahawk slam and Maultsby free throws gives the Trojans breathing room down the stretch. Garner depth with 10 players scoring or recording a rebound plays heavily in offsetting foul issues and Burt 3-point play ices the game for the good guys. Garner has four double-digit scorers for the 5th time this season. They travel to Clayton Friday night.



JV Trojans blast Huskies
AJ Daniels 17 points leads Garner JV to 5-1 start with 71-60 win over Heritage.  Nolan McLean 13 points, 10 rebounds and Christian Little 12 lead balanced Trojan attack that shot 59% for the game. Griffin Hines and Ben Hines hit 5 straight from the arc as Garner bolts to 21-11 lead after the 1st and never trail. Led by McLean and 6 boards from Daniels, Coach Bloms Trojans enjoy a massive 31-18 rebound margin and the defense forces 15 Huskie turnovers.

Freshman win over Raleigh Hawks
Coach Crump's 9th grade team downs the Hawks 64-57. Devin Abrom 18 points and 8 rebounds, Amari Wood adds 13 for the Trojans who race to early 40-29 lead and survive the Hawks 3-point barrage, hitting 6 is the 2nd quarter to cut the Garner lead to 37-29 at the break. Qi Smith dishes 6 assists, with 7 points to keep the home team ahead and Julius Peacock 8 rebounds helps Garner to 32-14 rebound advantage. Luke Richardson key 9 points for the 2-2 Trojans.

JV girls win at Heritage
The Lady Trojans JV squad wins 44-24 at the Huskies. The varsity girls drop 70-15 decision

Trojan swimming takes meet at Triangle Aquatics

Garner Men's Swimming wins at Triangle Aquatics Center Dec. 5th meet.  Women a strong 2nd: Carrington Clack 100 & 50 Freestyle wins, Kian Miley wins 200 Individual Medley, Braydon Miley 100 butterfly & Peyton Leischner takes 200 Freestyle

Trojan track at Rolesville Polar Bear Meet

RJ Terry wins 55m & 300m at the Rolesville Polar Bear Meet for Garner Trojans track. Randolph Ross takes the 500m, with Jacobi Asor-Sallaah taking 2nd & Alex Nunley claims the 55m hurdles and teams with Terry, Ross and Simeon Franklin to capture the 4X400 relay. James McMillian finishes 2nd in the 1000m and Max Verplank runner-up in 3200m.

Trojan Hall of Fame Tucker Dupree claims World Championship for Team USA

2017 Hall of Fame Tucker Dupree (’07) earns gold in the 50m freestyle at The Mexico City World Para Swimming Championships. Dupree swims 25.14 to claim the World Championship. Dupree won silvers as well in 50m freestyle & 100m backstroke in his opening event in his 5th world championship event for Team USA. Our 4-time medalist, Dupree competed for the Team USA in Rio, London and Beijing Paralympics. Garner inducted Mr. Dupree into the Trojan Hall of Fame last year.


Garner suffers first loss at Leesville

The Trojans edged 69-67 in matchup of top-ranked teams at Leesville. Marque Maultsby game-winner rims off as time expires for Garner first loss of the season. Demetric Horton pours in seven 3's in the second half to help the Trojans erase 38-28 deficit at halftime. Trayvon Ferrell 15 first half points en route to his 22 point night keeps the road team within striking distance. The 6th-ranked Pride get a shooting foul call as the 3rd quarter ends  despite appearing to be on the floor for what eventually becomes the winning margin. Leesville (5-0) downs Garner for the second consecutive game after ending the Trojans season in the NCHSAA Sectionals last season. KD Burt records 10 rebounds, his second straight double-digit total. Garner manages just 46% shooting but Horton 7-of-12 from the arc and Ferrell 8-of-12 from the floor lead the comeback that saw Garner trail by 16 in the second half. Maultsby dishes 6 assists to lead the good guys whose 20-game regular season win streak ends. Garner is off until Dec. 12th matchup with #3-ranked Heritage at home

JV Trojans blast Leesville
Daveon Dunn 25 points leads Garner JV to 88-66 demolition of the JV Pride. Jayleon Simmons adds 18 and Griffin Hines 10. Coach Bloms Trojans blow open a tight game, just 38-34 at halftime, with 27-14 final quarter. Garner (4-1) shoots a stellar 59% and force 16 Leesville turnovers. Dunn records 5 steals for the second consecutive game and has team-high 4 assists to go with his 11-of-14 shooting.

JV girls down Pride
The JV Lady Trojans 49-34 home win over Leesville to improve to 6-2. The varsity girls drop 59-17 loss to the Pride.
