Trojans sweep at Apex Friendship

#7-ranked Garner crushes the Patriots 14-0 to improve to 15-4. Our JV stay unbeaten with 7-4 win, 17-0 for the season.

Sam Weidner 3-RBI double, Hannah Kennovin RBI double & Ashton Thomas bases-clearing 3-RBI single in 7-run Garner 3rd, en route to 13-0 win at Apex Friendship. Mikayla Brumbles 2-RBI single in her 3-for-3 day and pitches a 1-hit shutout. Kaitlin Robeson 3 hits, RBI and Kari Sutton, Krissy D'Arco adds 2 hits each for the Lady Trojans (14-3) who pound out 13 hits in just five innings.

Trojans advance to SWAC Tennis semifinals

Senior Spencer Kieft & the doubles team of John Yokley & Colton Wood advance to the semi-finals of the SWAC Tennis tournament. Kieft advances after earning first round bye and 6-2, 6-2 win over Apex Friendship. He will face Apex entry. Yokley/Wood claim 6-3, 6-2 win over Apex for their entry in the semis vs M.Creek. They qualify for the 4A Mid-East Regionals, time/locations to be determined.

Wednesday postponements

Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball and Softball games vs Apex Friendship have been postponed today due to weather and field conditions; rescheduled again for Thursday, April 26th same locations (varsity at Patriots, JV teams home)

Garner-Harnett Central baseball and softball games originally scheduled for April 25th are cancelled and will not be made up

Also Men’s Lacrosse Wednesday vs Rolesville has been cancelled, and will not be made up (match was originally scheduled/postponed from March)

Trojans earn NC Coaches Association All-Star selection.

Senior stars Marcus Davis, Jaydin Dixon and Marque Maultsby selected to the NC Coaches Association East All-Star teams which compete in July in Greensboro. Davis will compete in the July 18th football game at Robert B. Jamieson Stadium. Maultsby earned a spot on the East basketball squad that plays July 16th in Greensboro Coliseum. Our Trojans are the 65th All-Star selections from Garner in basketball, football and soccer.

Davis, a Fayetteville State football signee led the Trojan defense to consecutive NCHSAA East Finals, compiling 159 career tackles and 22 sacks, earning All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season. The two-way starter & team Captain rushed for 139 key yards at FB with 2 TDs for Coach Thurman Leach's SWAC Champions and earned selection to the North Carolina 2018 Shrine Bowl & 2018 Border Bowl teams played earlier this year.

Dixon joins Davis on the Fayetteville State squad. Dixon led Garner with 939 yards rushing this season on Coach Thurman Leach's Eastern finalist squad. The two-way starter scored 8 TD's and recorded 69 tackles on defense.

SWAC Player of the Year and newly minted New Hampshire basketball commit Maultsby earned his selection after leading the conference champs to 26-2 record and 3rd consecutive NCHSAA 3rd Round. All-Metro and first team NCBCA All-District this season averaged 11.9 points and 6.2 assists per game leading the Trojans to 86ppg. The two sport star earned all-conference honors at defensive back on Coach Leach SWAC Champion football team as well, leading Garner defense in takeaways (4 INT and 3 fumble recoveries).

Men's lacrosse vs Apex Friendship AND Lady Trojan lacrosse at AF postponed due to weather. Men will be made up Thursday, April 26th JV-4:30PM, Varsity 6:15PM. The Lady Trojans travel to Apex Friendship Friday, April 27th JV-5PM followed by Varsity 6:30PM

Trojan track claims wins at Apex Lions Relay

Trojan track 4X100 relay (Alex Nunley, Randolph Ross, Prestige Bellamy & RJ Terry) wins at Apex Relays with NC#1 time of 41.82. Jonah Ross takes the Premier 100m in 11.99, 6th best time in the state this season & State Champion Randolph Ross tied meet record with 6-10 high jump, matching his school record. Lady Trojan 4X200 relay wins with 1:42.98.

Jackson Mitchell 2RBIs in Trojan baseball 2-1 win over Southern Lee at the 2018 Chris Combs Classic. The event at Doak Field on the campus of NC State raised funds for the fight against ALS by the Combs Foundation.
